As we receive news of dogs that have been rehomed and have gone on to happier times with their new human partners or families we will feature their stories here. If you have rehomed a dog from ARAS and would like to see your new canine friend featured in Happy Tails please send us an e-mail and perhaps even a photograph. We look forward to hearing from you.

The list of happily rehomed dogs has become longer and longer and, as a result, this page did the same. To try and save some room on the server and to speed up the process of you reading the Happy Tails as they come in, we will now keep the last 15 stories received on this page. We hope this does not disappoint you too much but the site becomes harder to maintain and more difficult to keep tidy as more and more files are added.

Daddy

Long time no speak guys at the ARAS Rescue Centre; Daddy, The Mastiff X here. Just wanted to let you all know how my first month has been at my new home.

EBAY-BEAR-023I think I'll start with the family: I've got a new little brother called Louie, he's 8 and he is just as playful as me, therefore I’m never bored at home. The Parents are awesome too, Tom and Vicky. Vicky thinks I’m like a big Teddy Bear which is cool because I love cuddling up on the sofa (people think I’m big and scary, that just hurts my feelings). They take me everywhere and I’ve been introduced to loads of new family members and friends. I get loads of attention off them (what does 'sexy' mean?)

DSC00141My best friend is a big Inuit called Diesel, he's crazy but I put him in his place if he gets too much. My new home is a lovely little house and 2 minutes either way are 2 massive fields where I spend my time chasing balls or jumping round in the corn. I've learnt to sit, lay, come, drop, leave and even sit at roads in just one month. I’m learning quick :)  Well guys, as you can see in the pictures, my life is good and I’m loving every minute. I really appreciate you taking me in and looking after me at ARAS. You found me the perfect family that love me. They told me I am staying forever!! Thanks again.. DADDY

Bengo

bengo4

This is Bengo, one of our longer stay residents. Bengo came to us as a skinny young dog and didn’t seem to have  a lot going for him. He has spent many months in the kennels with us and, despite the fact that he has not yet found that special family to share his life with, he has, we are sure you will agree, blossomed in other ways. He is now healthy, happy and bursting with energy and pride. We are sure it won’t be long before somebody realises what a great companion Bengo will make.

Frankie

Hello all,

Frankie2Frankie3Just a quick note to say that my wife and I are having a lot of fun with Frankie. He is a very playful, and well behaved. As expected, there are some training issues that are quickly being overcome. He is very intelligent.

As you can see from one of the photographs, he has a girlfriend, our daughter's Rotti. When we took him to one of our many walk areas this morning, he thought he was Moses hiding in the bullrushes. He has so much personality.

Also, I met the couple that adopted Digger, the gorgeous Akita-X.  Digger and Frankie got on really well from the very beginning. We met up with them on Sunday. The family are really pleased with Digger.

Hope you are all well, and thank you for the wonderful work you all do. Enjoy the photographs.

Kind Regards,

Sandra and Warren Baker

Tex

Hiya,

05072009118Just an update on Tex (I have given him a 'Sunday' name of Texas) who we've had for just over a week now. He has settled in well despite being a bit fussy with his food, he seems to love pilchards!! He has been to the ''poodle'' parlour and we are convinced he is half Pomeranian, when I picked him up he looked like he felt so much better and certainly has a bit more of a spring in his step. He's loving his walks and loves to 'attack' the garden hose much to the amusement of our daughter and nan. He's a lovely gentle boy, although our cat doesn't think so. He's obedient and we are so very happy to have him in our home.

Thanks with love,

The Stevens x

Ollie

ollie1Yo! Ollie here.

It been six months now since I left ARAS and came to chez Clover Farm with Caroline and Keith and everything is fine and dandy.  The farm is alright - it's not Buck house or Hampton Court but it'll do.  I've got another Alsatian mate called Lucy who's about a quarter the size of me but boy does she give me some stick sometimes!

One of the things I like about this place is the rabbits, the place is crawling with them! I just sit and watch them, bark at them and chase them.  I

The second thing I like is the horses in the field because they are like big rabbits and they are easier to see and just as easy to bark at.

The third thing I like is the pond. As soon as their backs are turned I'm in there wallowing and it does wonders for my coat. The only downside about the pond is there aren't any rabbits in there - well I haven't seen any yet.

So just to sum up, the only drawback to this place is that there aren't enough rabbits, apart from that, it'll have to do.

This is Ollie signing off.

Tzar

Hi, my name is Chris Dailey. I live in Plymouth, Devon.

ins_0001TZAR01On August 10th 2008 I re-homed one of your GSD's called Tzar. It has now been 10 months since, and he has settled in well. We had a few issues to start with, the most serious one was when he bit my hand during our first week together, however, I forgave him and since then he has become a very loving dog towards me and is excellent on the lead. He doesn't seem to be bothered about other people passing or being near us, some dogs he seems to be happier with than others, same with cats.

Just to finish, we have started training with a local GSD specialist trainer,(Sarah Benson) to sort out the last couple of issues, more with me than Tzar, I think.

Thankyou for Tzar, I love him loads.

Ruby

Hi All at ARAS,

Its Ruby, (formerly known as Princess)

DSCF0986I just wanted to let you know how I'm doing. I've been living with my new family for 1 year now and I'm loving it. It took me no time at all to settle in here. I have met a few new doggy friends as well, which I quite often visit and go for walks with.

I have been going to training classes at Lidlington which I have really enjoyed and I have learnt a lot. We are taking a short break from this at the moment though as we are moving soon. Can't wait to move into the new house as it has got a massive garden for me to run around in. Also there are lots of long country walks there as well.

Photo-0008I get spoilt rotten at my new home but I am also kept in line. Me and my family have a really good relationship and we love each other very much. My hobbies are watching the 'Dog Whisperer' and going down the park to play ball. I have attached a few photo's of me at my new home.

Uri

Uri1

I started my new adventure on April 11th when I moved in with Caine, Pam, Cybil, Shepher and BC the horse.

We live in a small terrace in Bedford but in 2 mins we can be in the park or by the river and two large lakes.

Day one was all new to me so after a good walk I was very tired, wet and a little stressed so a towel down and a sleep by the log fire was very welcome. After supper and a brief last walk I chose to make my bed under the kitchen table where I know I will always find my blanket and water bowl. My life is simple but it ain't bad.

Love Uri

Here are some photos of Cody who is now called Pickle and living up to his new name very well.

He has settled in, made lots of friends on our walks and has started redesigning the garden.

He goes out with me in the car and now he has a new travelling harness and spends most of the time sprawled out on the back seat. He hopes you like his photos.

Just to update you on Cloe who re rehomed in June 2008.  As you can see she is waiting for her dinner. Her favourite place is the kitchen.

She is the most wonderful dog, she has settled in, its like we have always had her. She has been on holiday to Scotland up in the Highlands and to the seaside. We go on loads of walks to all different places in the country.

We would like to thank you for Cloe, we love her to bits and will always look after her and make sure she has the best of care

Polar & Timber

Hi,

It’s now been nearly 4 months since we adopted Polar and well over 2 years since adopting Timber.

Both get on great, Polar has settled down well and is keeping Timber on his toes with lots of play… Timber has now gone from someone who liked to keep possession of his bones to quite happily sharing them with his new friend J

Kizzy

Kizz-009
Kizz-066

Hi to all,

We thought we would just send you a quick email.  We re homed Kizzy on the 24th December 2007 shortly after losing our last German Shepherd, Tilley, suddenly to cancer on the 21st December 2007. Kizzy is a really lovely dog who gives us so much pleasure and un-conditional love.  She is our whole world, and has so many times taken away the stress of modern life.  Kizzy seems to have got so attached to me (Paul) over the time we have had her, she is my friend, my companion, always there for me when I get wound up, she relaxes me, knows when I am happy or sad and tries her level best to get me back to earth, for that I thank her for with my whole heart.

We would also like to thank ARAS for all the work that they do and thank them for bringing us and Kizzy together.  Keep up the good work. We have enclosed a few photographs,  we hope you will be able to put on your web site of our lovely girl.

All the best,

Paul, Pearl and Ian
