THE JUNE DOG SHOW HAS UNFORTUNATELY BEEN CANCELLED PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS OF AN ALTERNATIVE EVENT

THE SABRE APPEAL

Once again we are forced to make an appeal for help, this time for Sabre. Sabre arrived at the kennels in early March. He never really settled into kennel life and found it difficult to cope. He had a very poor appetite and we had to try various different foods to help him keep up his strength. Unfortunatley he became ill and, on the 8th of March we took him to the vets where he was prescribed anti-biotics and special food.

His treatment did not work and he made 3 subsequent visits to the vet, his last on 20th March. Sabre was hospitalised over the Easter weekend and he underwent numerous tests and x-rays but, despite the best efforts of ARAS staff and the vet, Sabre died on the 25th of March.

The final bill for his treatment was in excess of £1000 which has been an enormous strain on our resources at a time when the loss of Sabre was hard enough to bear.

We are a dog rescue organisation with over 30 dogs in our care awaiting new and caring homes. Sabre was not lucky enough to experience the happiness that a caring family can bring to dogs like him but we continue our work and the payment of large vets bills is always a strain on our limited resources and, if unpaid, could prevent us from continuing the work we do. ARAS is run entirely by volunteers and financed entirely by donations and the generosity of the people who rehome dogs from ARAS. Any help you are able to give to assist would be very much appreciated.

Donations toward the Sabre Appeal can be sent to either of the following addresses. Cheques should be made payable to ARAS Dog rescue:

Mrs D M Scott, 73 Curlew Crescent, Brickhill, Bedford, MK41 7HY

or

Mrs J Ellison, 51 Whitebeam Close, Kempston, Bedfordshire.

THANK YOU

kacey2Thank you for visiting ARAS Rescue the web site which is home to the Animal Rescue Advisory Service (incorporating the German Shepherd Inn).

ARAS has been set up to help unwanted dogs find caring homes, especially German Shepherds. This site will tell you a little more about what we do as a dog rescue organisation, details of the dogs currently looking for new homes, and about events that are helping to raise funds in order to secure our animal's futures.

21stoctxxxUse the navigation on the left to find the information you need. We regularly update this site with rescued dogs looking for new homes, tips about dog welfare and events and other ARAS associated articles, so please add us to your favourites and come back soon, you will always be welcome here at ARAS.

If you are a company representative and you would like to assist ARAS through sponsorship or advertising we are always happy to discuss proposals which might benefit the animals in our care. We are willing to place advertising for relevant products on the site and prices for advertising are negotiable. If you would like to assist in the care of our dogs by supplying feed or other consumables we would be glad to acknowledge that assistance through banner advertising here on the site. If you would like to help ARAS care for and find homes for the dogs brought to us please contact our web site manager, Chas Cooke in the first instance. His details are available in the Contacts page of the site.

Here at ARAS we are always trying to improve our web site and make it more interesting for our visitors. We now publish a monthly newsletter which will give details of dogs available for rehoming, events and news as well as some background information on the organisation itself. We normally have a subscription facility on this page but, due to a technical problem experienced we have temporarily removed it. We are working to repair the problem and will soon be back, up and running, allowing you to asign up for the newsletter. Please retrurn in the next few days if you wish to subscribe. Thank you for your patience and our apologies for any inconvenience.
